Friday Fun: Kitchen Basics – Brown Sugar Trick

Don’t you hate when you pull out the brown sugar for a recipe and it’s hard as a rock? Here’s a perfect trick when you’re in a pinch.

  1. Place desired amount of brown sugar in a bowl or pie plate.
  2. Cover with a small piece of waxed paper.
  3. Top with a slice of bread (for moisture).
  4. Loosely cover the bowl or pie plate with plastic wrap.
  5. Microwave until softened (30 seconds usually does it).
